Protect & promote the rights of people with a disability

Want to make a difference in your local community and also hold a prominent volunteer role?

Community Visitor volunteers are appointed by the Victorian Governor in Council to visit accommodation facilities for people who have a cognitive disability and/or mental illness.

They visit in pairs to inquire into the service being provided to residents/patients to make sure that their human rights are being upheld.

They speak to residents/patients to find out if they have any issues or concerns. At the conclusion of a visit, they write a brief report detailing their findings.

This is a stimulating and challenging role. Training and reimbursement of travel costs is provided.
