OzChild - Advocating for Children and Young People
During COVID -19 pandemic all interviews, training and visits are conducted via online mentoring
OzChild Volunteer Program is looking for mentors to support a young person aged from 6 to 17 years old who live on the Mornington Peninsula. We are particularly interested in volunteers that like sports and outdoor activities that can share up to 2 hours weekly/fortnightly of your time with young energetic boys and girls. Activities such as kicking a football or shoot some hoops, helping with school work, listen to them and offer them some insight in personal development we would love to hear from you. OzChild offers comprehensive training and ongoing support that equips our volunteers to carry out their role.
.We match volunteers according to their interests, knowledge and experience, so you might mentor a young person doing an outdoor activity
A police check is provided and please be advised that all potential Volunteers must be over 18 hold a current Victorian drivers license and will require a Working With Children Check card. Induction training: a full day. The required time is 12 months giving just an hour or two fortnightly.
It is expected that volunteers will:
Have a personal commitment to accepting and respecting people as they are;
Contribute as team members – with the families/individuals/children, Volunteer Coordinators, and other volunteers;
Conduct themselves in such a way that is consistent with the Mission and Values of Oz Child;
Report all relevant information and concerns to their Volunteer Coordinator; and
Contact the Volunteer Coordinator if their circumstances change and they are no longer able to meet the commitment as outlined above.
