Provide social support and companionship to a senior client of genU (aged 65 and above).

The Role:

Volunteers are matched to an elderly person in their local area, who is feeling isolated. isolation. Isolation is not an uncommon feeling in the elderly community. This can be due to an individual living alone, and/or having experienced the loss of family or friends. Or possessing chronic conditions – such as hearing or vision impairment. At times, transport to the local community in your vehicle is required.

About you:

  • Aged 25 years and over.
  • Enjoy spending time with an older person.
  • Wanting to break out of your comfort zone
  • Have excellent story-sharing, empathy and listening skills.
  • Are dependable, confident, and able to work independently.
  • Have your own car, comprehensive insurance and a full Australian rivers licence.

Time Commitment:

Two (2) hours per week between 9:am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. Hours are flexible and arranged to suit your lifestyle and commitments.
