The Briars is the largest property owned and run by the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and comprises of a wildlife sanctuary, heritage buildings, significant Aboriginal sites, plant nursery, school camp, and a children’s workshop space. Volunteers play an important role in supporting the site across several different areas including:

·       Shire Nursery

·       Heritage Gardens

·       Wildlife Sanctuary

·       Briars Vineyard

We are currently looking for people to assist with plant propagation and garden maintenance at the Shire Nursery; Garden maintenance in both the heritage seed garden and homestead gardens; grapevine maintenance in the Briars vineyard; as well people interested in helping to deliver conservation works within the Wildlife Sanctuary and proposed sanctuary expansion.

While no specific skills are required, a willingness to learn and in some cases reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary. We are also open to discussing opportunities for people with disabilities and can offer tasks suited to individuals.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Working for Children’s and Police Check prior to commencing.
