Uniting Social Support Program keeps people connected to the community to support them live a happy and healthy life. The program assists people to keep doing the things they love. Whatever ‘living life to the fullest” looks like for them, we support them to make it happen.
Mark describes himself as an reserved person, although he does like the company of other people. He is creative and enjoys working with his hands, and likes anything to do with cars, trucks and motor bikes. Mark also enjoys music from the 50’s and 60’s. He has two dogs which he spends a lot of time with. Mark* would prefer a male volunteer who has similar interests.
The successful volunteer would need to be comfortable around dogs and willing to take Mark* out for coffee or perhaps go for a drive, or a walk. You will need to use your own car and have fully comprehensive insurance.
As a valued member of the social support team, you will have access to; ongoing training and development opportunities, the chance to meet new people and develop new skills, and the support of a dedicated volunteer coordinator throughout your volunteer journey. You will be volunteering to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice to make an impact in your community. Please note that during COVID-19 this role will commence over the phone, which will enable you to establish rapport and connection with Mark and enable him to stay connected to the community. **Participant’s name has been altered to maintain her privacy.
